New Moon in Cancer July
20th, 2020
As this moon nestles into Leo from Cancer, which means learning to respect and care for our range of emotions while bolstering them with strength and self-assurance. This can be a tender time. Our emotions can run high and are amplified by the dark mirror of the new moon. This is
not a magical torture chamber (though it can feel like one if we are resisting our own growth), but a rich and bountiful opportunity to respectfully identify our feelings, and witness them for what they are. Just as the full moon demands to be seen, glowing through the vastness of the world in a given moment, the new moon demands us to see ourselves; to recognize that the same bright lunar glow that is reflected by the moon exists first within us all.
Leo has dropped by just in time to pick us up from the watery puddle of necessary emotions that have been brought to light by Cancer. There is space for a fresh beginning here - just remember that you don't have to do everything at once, or with haste. As the moon rebirths itself, nestled in the darkness of a twinkling sky, so does your current chapter of life. The choices you make now, given extra strength by way of this lunar Leo phase,
will affect the following month in a big way as the moon continues to fill its own cup again - just as we fill ours. Pour slowly and intentionally. A great way to put these strengths into practice is through somatic sensory awareness, joining together the tenacity of the body with the magic of the mind. Breathe into your own being. With each breath, notice yourself. Reflect on all that you are, while gently stretching into these aspects of being. If in a breath you happen to notice your
ribcage flexing open, bend slightly from one side to the next, making a little more space for the moment. Flex your toes back, flare your nostrils, or stretch out your fingers. Feel how strong even the smallest parts of you can be, simply by activating them. Introduce intention to these movements, whether it be while opening a door, scratching your arm, lifting your body, or washing dishes. These mundane moments are where the richest magical sparks reside.

RUBY MAGIC
Ruby is a gem that helps to bring us home to our physical bodies. A helpful stone for anyone with a complicated relationship to their physical form - this stone reminds us that we are all divine in our own right. This stone reminds us that our bodies are what allows us to connect with our loved ones, engage with our hobbies and passions, and be a part of our communities. Having a body can be difficult when society wants to tell so many of us that our bodies are
"wrong," but Ruby reminds us that those statements are crafted to keep marginalized communities on the outskirts. The most radical thing you can do is fully love yourself, and Ruby will help you feel energized, enthusiastic, and revitalized.

CANCER NEW MOON: WATER 3 WAYS RITUAL
Cancer season is the perfect time to do some water magic! For this ritual, we are going to incorporate water 3 ways, and use this bath to connect to our emotional self, to gain a deeper understanding of our self care needs in this time. This practice is especially powerful in a time when we our nervous systems are overwhelmed - we may be care taking for friends and loved ones who are sick or out at protests (in addition to care taking for
ourselves), working during a pandemic, or stressed about unemployment. It can be so easy during this time to let self care fall by the wayside and focus on meeting basic needs. However, taking a moment to connect to your emotions, understand what would feel really comforting in this time, and then making space for those things will help fill your cup so you can keep moving ahead without totally burning yourself out.
Our first water element for this ritual is a tea for our bath. In a pot, add 2 cups of water and small handful of herbs and bring to a boil. Chamomile for calming and skin soothing, rose for heart medicine, and calendula for sunshine magic would be especially nice here - but use whatever herbs you
prefer to bathe with! Bring your potion to a boil, and then let simmer for about 5 min with a lid on. Turn off the heat and let steep for at least another 10 min.
When your ready for the next step, grab your journal and head to the bath or prepare a foot soak station. Strain your bath tea, and add it to a filling tub. Feel free to add Epsom salts, a favorite body oil, or whatever you like to make your bath extra luxurious. Step in and soak, and while you soak pick up your journal and write a list of your favorite actives that make you feel good. Don't write what you "think" should be making you feel good - but what actually does! If that's binging your favorite show on Netflix, add it to the list. When you're done journaling, and done soaking - step out, dry off, and head to the kitchen for the last water element of
this ritual.
Find yourself your biggest glass, pour yourself a nice big cup of water (add any ice, fruit, or herbs you like here!) Sit somewhere comfy, drink your water and look over your list. Circle one thing you will do tomorrow to bring some self care into your day. You can do this last part of the ritual every day to encourage self care (and hydration!) through the end of Cancer Season.

Have you read our new blog yet?!
.... We are experiencing a collective rebalancing. Funny how things feel suddenly so tilted. This sensation of losing our center reveals an ugly truth: we have been off balance for a very, very long time. So long that we've begun to recognize it as normal. Rebalancing can be jarring, agitating, frightening, and disturbing. It can be threatening, too. Even if you are aware of the imbalance, it's become our collective foundation - and reestablishing the ground on
which we stand can be difficult when we're still standing on it. There's a part of us that wants things to just stay easy. But as witches, we know better. We can recognize this as a Divine opportunity. A challenge to face, and an answer to call. We invite you to create an Altar to recognize this moment of necessary balance, and support the world in discovering its center as well as our own.....
