Full Moon in Gemini December 11-12
This Gemini Cold Moon is the last moon phase before the winter solstice and one filled with opportunities to look for balance in your relationship to money, love, and self. Whenever such opportunities arise our inner critic can take a front seat, overshadowing our
recognition of personal accomplishments, character, and intention. Instead, take these long nights to appreciate the nuance, the varying shades of gray, the duality, and the everyday juxtapositions. Cozy up to your inner wisdom and sip tea with your guides as you navigate the complexities that arise; calling to that old knowledge that resides within. Embody every crevice of yourself and massage out the old thought patterns that no longer serve you. Allow this full moon to
encourage release and nourish you from within; using this Gemini Air's energy to communicate with yourself and those around you what you need to feel whole.

Creating an Outdoor Altar
Much of the focus of this season is centered on sharing, celebrating, and connecting to those around you. This energy can be not only life giving but also affirming of the spaces you have nourished and tended this year. The shadow side of this however can be a feeling of depletion, inauthenticity, and hollowness. Creating an outdoor altar can be a practice that reminds you to return to your center, your roots, the pleasure of yourself; calling on
those aspects that have lead you to this season full and present.
Outdoor altars can be an extension of those within your home or dedicated to a new energy/deity/ancestor. Trust your gut when making decisions around building your altar, remembering 99% of magic is intention and intuition. Consider adding items that are plentiful during this season such as rosemary, holly, or winter fruits like pomegranates and citrus. Incorporate tools that spark that deep knowledge
of self, that call you back to yourself.
Once arranged, work with it as often as it calls; watching the trees above it move, the birds beside it peck, or how it looks bathed by the full moon. Practicing spell work, meditation, or ancestral communion can feel different when you are outside. You may feel more connected to the elements or a stronger tie to the planets above. However you partake of this practice, let it be filled with ripeness of this moon and its Gemini
energy.
The Magical Fir
Imbued with a long magical history, firs have served as conduits for messages, lore, and magical energy for many cultures. From markers of sacred grave sites for the Druids to one of the preferred trees to celebrate solstice, fir is one of the sacred woods burned in the Beltane fire. Representing Immortality, it is associated with beginnings, energy, growth, and healing. Because of this its needles, cones, and bark are often used in spells
and blessings related to birth and health. Baths, soaks, and teas are all ways to commune with the fir. Associated with the Air element, carrying fir needles or a small cone can help with creative expression or clear communication.
Fir's aromatic energy asks us to compost those outdated ideas and beliefs we have held on to so tightly this year, letting the canopy of our hearts open to new growth and life. However, fir's evergreen nature also celebrates that which holds its vibrancy, calling us to recognize those friendships that have lasted the harsh weather. During this full moon, how will you use this Gemini duality to nourish yourself and those within your
sphere?

Bitters, an Herbal Ally
Plants have a deep knowledge to share with us and wish to work with our bodies to keep us in alignment. Often pushed to those that are sweet or salty in taste however, bitter tasting plants are lacking in many of our diets. This is so unfortunate as many herbs found in Bitters aid in digestion and support the natural detoxification system our bodies have. Our senses seek the taste and experience of bitter foods and will draw us to them as
we become more attuned to that desire.
With this season often being accompanied by partaking in rich foods and drink, incorporating bitter foods, herbs, and extracts may be a practice that helps you find nourishment and balance. There are many ways to incorporate bitter foods into your everyday, including adding dill, arugula, or radicchio atop and within your dishes. Adding bitters to drinks is also a long tradition that was deeply impacted by prohibition, but is making a huge
resurgence. This revitalization has lead to many a new exciting bitters brand, delicious in cocktails and as tinctures; both of which we carry at Seagrape. No matter the way you commune with these tasty plants, take time to appreciate the senses they engage and spark within you.
