New Moon August 30 in Virgo
Happy super moon, new moon loves! We are on the brink of seasons changing from the hot heat of the summer into a more pleasurable and demure autumn chill. When harvesting the fruits of this season, literally and metaphorically, you might find yourself
reflecting on having planted these seeds and wow, has time flied! This is the Virgo energy at work, as they are the tenders of the Earth, always attuned to the details of change and transformation.
With this new moon falling on a Friday, it calls in the energy of Venus. The Virgo and Venus energies lend themselves to reflecting on what you have and where you are, reflecting on the beauty, love, and values you have been tending. In the height of harvesting, what have you reaped, what has brought you joy and nourishment, what progress have you made since the previous Virgo moon? This new moon, in using the abundance that you have, where will you go and how will you use what you have? As
you chart what that looks like for you this moon cycle, here are some further questions to help clarify:
- Where have I been inefficient with my energy? How can I fine-tune or change these patterns?
- What have I been working on and found joy or success? How can I continue to cultivate this in my life this moon cycle?

Virgo Face Oil
- 2 parts almond oil
- 1 part rosehip seed oil
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
- 3 drops geranium or rose essential oil
Almond and lavender have been associated with Virgo, as earthy elements to work with and help bring Virgos into balance. Both almond and lavender help bring a state of peacefulness to Virgos. Lavender's aromatherapy benefits are well known for relieving stress and anxiety. Additionally, the plant is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Almond oil naturally helps protect skin from UV rays, as it contains vitamin E and zinc. As a lighter oil, almond oil is easily
absorbed into the skin and feels nice on the face. In addition to aiding peaceful feelings, almond is associated with love and aids with self love, relationships, and romantic love for Virgos.
Recommend storing in a dark brown or blue tincture bottle with dropper. To use, a couple drops at a time can be emulsified in hands as you rub them together and then massaged into the face. Feels great after washing face and applied to slightly damp skin to help local in moisture.
Values in the Elements
Tarot Spread
In reflecting on the last virgo moon, six months prior, how have your values been strengthened, clarified, changed, rearranged, or reprioritized? Use this tarot spread of the elements to reconnect to your values through the elements. Each element has an affinity, listed below.
- Earth: Pentacles (foundation, stability, grounded center)
- Water: Cups (emotion and creativity)
- Fire: Wands (ego, sense of self, willingness to grow and learn)
- Air: Swords (change, transition, movement, travel, & inspiration)
- Spirit: Major Arcana (your relationship to higher self, universe, the infinite)
As you set up the space for your reading, draw a star on paper or create with natural elements like sticks, flowers, herbs, etc. Next, divide your tarot deck into each suit of the minor arcana and then the major arcana. Shuffle each pile until you feel your intent is in the pile and draw a card for that element (place per spread above). It's okay if your elements feel unbalanced, as we are all constantly shifting and changing in and out of alignment. This is a
great spread to return to often.

Dandelion Roots
As the long summer days begin to transition into shorter fall days, the energy in our plant allies moves from the flowers down into the roots. Dandelion is a great example of this energy shift. Roots are best harvested between the end of August to the start of October (depending what sort of climate you live in).
Due to its bitter taste, dandelion greens and roots are an excellent digestive bitter. Bitter flavors help stimulate the digestive enzymes in our bodies, and work best if taken a few minutes prior to a meal. Additionally, dandelion root helps the body to detox, as a gentle diuretic (ie. makes you pee).
