Hey, babes! I’m Maria- owner of Seagrape Apothecary, popping in with a little small biz weekend re-introduction!
This holiday season marks 15 years in business and year 9 of our sweet brick and mortar adventure. Whether you’ve been here this whole time, or are just finding the shop now— thank you for your
love and support. I couldn’t do it without you! ♥️ I hope you stop into the shop today (Sunday!!) from 11-5 or see what we've got up online for this Small Business Weekend.
I started this business as a curious and scrappy artist, excited to try my hand at everything to see if it would work out, and thankfully it did.
With an education in fine art, I found my curiosity and creativity to be the path to magic and community. Art school gave me a chance to make something from nothing consistently enough that I began to believe that I could. I am so thankful that I leaned into trust, pleasure, joy, and magical relationship all those years ago. It’s my mission to create more of those things in the world for everyone.
Here are some fun lil facts about me!
🫖My relationship with my ancestors is tended
through cups of morning tea.
🎨I love to paint large scale more then anything.
⚡️I am not afraid of starting something new and I never run out of creative ideas.
🤞🏼I’ve never had a full time job outside of my business.
🔥My Mercury placement is in Aries and I often have to be told to slow the creative flow down to a note taking pace 🙃
💞Pleasure is a value of mine and I often pause to ask myself “how can this moment be more pleasurable?”
👀I’m half naked on the internet a
lot because I think bodies are beautiful and should be celebrated. My mom is embarrassed of me but I’m actually healing ancestral trauma, so 🤷🏻♂️
🛀Black tea and a bath can make anything better. It’s a fact.
Thank you to all the incredible people that make this small business possible! The amazing babes that tend her with me- Ronnie, Liliana and Rhea. The talented artists that help make her sparkle through visuals, design and mural work- Emily Small of Beetle Ink, Lettie Jane
Rennekamp and Drew + Nick of Nightflare creative. And of course our amazing customers- i am the luckiest to be able to be in community with you!!
This has been by far the hardest year (both in business and my personal life) I’ve had to date. We made some leaps of
faith by moving the shop to a new location, I’ve had several losses in my family, the world continued to be heartbreaking. But it’s also been a year of saying yes to the magic, and trusting that everything will work out, a year of collective rage and change, and a year of remembering that a softer world is possible✨💜
