If you're looking for some juicy inspiration for your magical meal this week, look no further than our Aphrodisiac Early Grey and Honey Fig Cake recipe!
Aphrodisiac
honey:
You will need 2 fig leaves, 1
tablespoon of rose petals, a pinch of damiana, a pinch of black pepper, and any other sexy herb you like (marigold, lavender, cardamom). Cover herbs with 2-4 oz of honey (more if you want to have it through the winter) and set on the stove. Keep on low for 2-3 hours, pull out the plants (or keep them in, except the fig leaves). BAM! Infused honey.
Fig reduction:
Take 6 ripe, roughly chopped figs and set them on low in a pan to reduce for about 15 minutes. Once the figs release their water content, cook them down until thick and soft. Break the figs up into paste with
your spatula and add 2-3 tablespoons of your infused honey into the mix. (PS: You can make more of this and save it for your morning aphrodisiac toast! Nothing better on a Sunday.)
Buttercream:
You'll need 2.5 cups of powdered sugar, 8 oz of unsalted butter, 3 tablespoons of milk, and after combining all of that into a silky buttercream, add the honeyed fig reduction into it. Yum! This is totally to taste, so remember to lick the beaters often.
Make your Cake:
Bake your cake according the the instructions of this recipe. After the cake is cooled, cut it in half and line the middle with half of your fig buttercream. Slice some fresh figs and top
the buttercream with the thin slices for flavor and color. Pop the second half of the cake on top and spread the rest of the buttercream on it. Top with more fresh figs, roses, and anything else that strikes your fancy! Add a touch of your infused honey on top of the figs if you want it extra sweet.
